Dinosaur walked the earth for over 165 million years. They lived during a period of time known as the Mesozoic Era, or Age of Reptiles. At the end of the Cretaceous Period they became extinct – that was around 65 million years ago.The word dinosaur means terrifying lizard.The first known dinosaur were small predators that walked on two legs. All their descendants had an upright posture, with the legs underneath the body.Some of the names of dinosaurs are Tyrannosaurus rex,Velociraptor,Allosaurus,Spinosaurus,Deinonychus,Camotaurus.Estimates vary, but in terms of extinct non-avian dinosaurs about 300 valid genera and roughly 700 valid species have been discovered and named.Baby dinosaurs of any type can be called hatchlings or nestlings. Baby theropods can also be called chicks.
